Plan B 2022
Traveling Invitational Show in response to the curbing of women's rights to abortion.
In my previous career as an anesthesiologist, I have been involved with abortions. Patients who came from cultures where abortions were not accepted would resort to often dangerous methods to terminate their pregnancies.
My piece for plan B consists of a pendant and a pin with castings of a small vessel. They are made from herbs used in abortion that often carry unpredictable side effects, including death. In the pendant those are suspended in resin, in the pin they are cast in gelatin, and could be dissolved in hot water to make an abortive tea.
